Residents and visitors to the Moose Lake area are protected by the City's Police Department 24 hours a day.
The Moose Lake Police Department proudly serves a community with about 2,700 residents 45 miles south of Duluth. Presently our agency consists of One Chief, three full time officers, two part-time officers and one clerical worker.

Please notify the Moose Lake Police Department if you are going to be away from your home for the weekend, week, month or season. The Police Department will check your residence while you are away in order to curb break-ins and burglaries.
City of Moose Lake residents may obtain a Permit to Purchase a handgun at the Moose Lake Police Department.
Applications may be printed out and completed prior to coming to the Moose Lake Police Department. The permit can be downloaded.
Applications are also available at the Police Department's front desk window. Applicants will be asked to provide a valid driver's license with a current Moose Lake address. A background check will be completed and when it is approved, the permit will be issued by the Chief of Police and mailed to the permit holder. There is no fee.
The City of Moose Lake Police Department does not issue Permits to Carry. These must be obtained from the Carlton County Sheriff's Office, located at 317 Walnut St, Carlton MN 55718.

The Moose Lake Police Dept has a drop off site for unused pharmaceuticals. Let's keep them out of the trash and sewage systems. Proper disposal protects our soil and water. Drop them off in the lobby at the MLPD and they will be picked up & brought to a location where they are incinerated. Hours to drop off are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday thru Friday.
What do you do??
1. Leave medication in the original container
2. Remove your name, address and any other identifying information.
3. Leave the name of the medication
4. Drop the medication into the disposal box opening.
