To our friends, neighbors, and ever increasing numbers of visitors and residents, Moose Lake is seen and is oftentimes talked about as a community on the move, with a clearly defined sense of purpose and a comprehensive plan for the future. While the Mayor and City Council are ultimately responsible for ensuring that the plan is carried out, they are the first to admit that no plan can be developed nor can it be implemented without the participation and involvement of many organizations and numerous people through the community.
Moose Lake Citizens, who call Moose Lake Home, were informed and their input was solicited. Included in this group were well known writers, poets, outdoor photographers, potters, sign designers, woodcarvers, and entrepreneurs. The quality of life inspired by Minnesota rural communities.
Water Tower and Water Main Improvements
Completed all five (5) phases of the Water Tower and Water Mains Improvement Programs to position the city to accommodate future growth and address state facility needs. The new Water Tower now serves as a beacon and symbol of the community’s prosperity.
School Property Development
In collaboration with the School Board, City Council and Planning Commission, conduit a Public Information Meeting regarding the development of a portion of the School District property along State Highway No. 73 and then move towards the implementation of a comprehensive development plan. This plan is a once in a lifetime opportunity to develop the neighborhood along with a new school facility. School District Planning for New Facility and Inter-District Sharing. To assess our future educational facility and program needs, options and costs through a broad community involvement process and decide what direction we will pursue.
Moose Lake Municipal Power
Through a public-private collaborative effort, provide the infrastructure to assure an appropriate level of electrical service and broadband connectivity for the City of Moose Lake that is reliable and affordable. The City of Moose Lake sold over two (2) million dollars of bonds to allow the Moose Lake Water & Light Commission to modernize the electrical distribution control panel and increase their standby generation capacity. MLW&L has a contractual agreement with Great River Energy and Lake Country Power MLW&L is undertaking a GIS mapping program to locate all utilities within its service territory MLW&L operates a Community Broadband Network which includes a fiber backbone, fixed wireless, and WiFi infrastructure. 
The City of Moose Lake is committed to the downtown area. An agreement was made with Moose Lake Township to remodel existing buildings into a Community Center, Public Library, Senior Center, Motor Vehicle Office, and Administration Offices. As part of a streetscape/lighting project, Elm Avenue and Arrowhead Lane were renovated to give the community a whole new look and appeal.
A new Gateway Clinic facility was opened on August 25, 2004.
Mercy Hospital – Health Care Campus Projects
Expansion of the Mercy Hospital campus is in order to meet basic area health care needs, explore new and innovative rural health care programming and technology applications and to serve as a model campus for rural health care delivery in Minnesota.
With the cooperation of the City of Moose Lake and the Moose Lake Area Chamber of Commerce, a new Information Center was opened on the corner of State Highway 73 and County Road 61.
Moose Lake State Park Mineral & Agate Interpretative Center
The new Mineral & Agate Interpretative Center was dedicated and opened to the public at the Moose Lake State Park.
A challenge regarding senior housing is that seniors in our area want to move closer to family members once they can no longer maintain their home or when they have increased needs for medical care. Therefore, to accommodate these mixed-use housing needs, the City has entered into an agreement with experienced developers to construct forty (40) units of superior Assisted Living for Seniors housing, interspersed with seven (7) upscale, single family residential sites along a meandering private drive in a heavily wooded urban environment.
Moose Lake Area Community Center and Museum Annex Project
The City of Moose Lake, in partnership and collaboration with the Moose Lake Area Historical Society and Solomon’s Lodge #286, has recognized the need for a large, multi-purpose within the area, as substantiated by numerous requests from businesses and residents seeking larger facilities for conferences, receptions, and special gatherings. This unique partnership has led to the construction of a fifty (50) foot by one hundred and twenty (120) foot building to be built as an annex to the existing Depot & Fires of 1918 Museum.
Moose Lake Area Emergency Response Center
Under the leadership of the Mayor of the City of Moose Lake, an Emergency Management Team, studied the preparedness of the community to respond to natural and man made disasters.. A plan for emergency response was put into place and local mutual aid agreements were made. Communications between responding agencies is a main concern. The City of Moose Lake is planning on adding strategically placed WiFi sites so that the responding Fire and Police Departments will have mobile access to the Internet. Moose Lake was successful in getting a Blandin Foundation "Get Broadband" grant to complete this goal.
Riverside Arena Enhancements
To maintain hockey and skating as the primary use of the Riverside Arena; provide appropriate facilities to meet gender equity requirements; and improved exterior and safety tied to the 2003 streetscape renovation work.
